A large manufacturing company in Scotland was having difficulty in maintaining profitability due to the length of time taken to produce estimates for its products. The estimating process involved a painstaking process of working through tables of norms for every conceivable permutation of their products. An estimate could take a senior engineer as long as two days to complete. With the number of estimates which were required each week corners were being cut and estimates were becoming less accurate.
Modus was engaged to change pages and pages of tables which detailed the time required for every single stage of the manufacturing process into an easy to use application which required minimum effort on the part of the estimator.
Modus were able to use their engineering skills as well as their software development knowledge to work with the client to produce an application which cut the time to produce an estimate from two working days to less than 30 minutes.
