The money spent on a survey is wasted unless it is read
There is no point having an asbestos management system if data is never entered. The problem is that someone has to take on the task of getting the data from the page to the screen. Most organisations do not have the luxury of staff dedicated to data transfer so is there a better way?
Modus developed a number of tools to get survey or condition monitoring information into AIMS quickly and accurately.
Getting from the page to the screen
The key to an effective asbestos management system is being able to get the information into the database as quickly as possible. Online entry is fine if you are uploading a few sample details or the odd photograph but what about a whole survey? That could take hours if not days.
At Modus we have the tools to make your life a bit easier.
Hand held data collectors
Modus data collection software allow you to record a survey quickly and accurately on site. Not just record a survey but issue sample numbers and attach photographs to locations.
This means that once uploaded there is virtually no work needed to finish the survey. If you have a connection to the internet the survey can be uploaded and available for use before you have left site.
Spreadsheet import
Where you are using external survey contractors they are almost certainly using their own survey recoding and report generation systems.
AIMS 5.5 has a spreadsheet import facility that allows a survey company to populate a template in an agreed format which can then be imported directly into AIMS. This process allows photographs to be imported at the same time.
Condition monitoring surveys
Often all you want to record is that the ACMs previously identified within a building are in a safe condition. AIMS has a condition monitoring module which allows a reinspection of an entire building to be recorded from a single screen.
New photographs can be uploaded from the same screen and logged in the correct location automatically.
Electronic documents
While it is not the ideal approach to importing survey data Modus has developed a number of tools that make it easier to pull information from a document and import it to AIMS.
This approach can be used where surveys have been carried out prior to agreeing the data transfer processes with the contractor.
